Reparations are Slavery – We aren’t even FREE yet

Many people have asked me about reparations and whether I will support them. I do, but the problem is most people think of reparations as free money or land. None of this is worth anything if the government is constantly stealing from us.

Had descendants of African slaves been given 40 acres and a mule a few generations ago, descendants alive today would still have very little. The mules would be dead, obviously, but they wouldn’t have anything because mules are a hybrid animal that can’t breed. The land would have been taxed away through property tax and inheritance tax.

And even if none of those taxes existed, a powerful government with arbitrary legislation has put many descendants of African slaves in prisons or given them felony records which have stripped away their right to defend themselves under the 2nd amendment and the ability to have a successful career.

If someone is abducted and kept in a cage all their life, how much money is that really worth? Is it really just the matter of calculating the cost of the labor that was stolen? I say no because that would mean that slavery was just like any other job. Slavery was a crime, and those who committed that crime should be imprisoned. Unfortunately, they are not alive today to serve their time.

We should not forget about the past. Horrific things have happened and we should always remember them. But we should look forward to the future and figure out how to make life free and prosperous for all, without an eternal conflict built on the turmoil of the past.
